Features
Powerful, stratified, two-stroke engine, with 2-MIX Technology. This model is more fuel efficient and have high torque over a wide speed range than the previous FS 160. You will see a fuel saving of between 10-20% compared to traditional machines.
The FS 161 come standard with an AutoCut C46-2 mowing head. Using STIHL 2.7mm nylon line leads to significant cost savings* vs. 3.5mm pre-cut nylon line, as per an independent study run by the University of Stellenbosch.
The AutoCut C46-2 head also offers significant time savings, eliminating frequent line changes, with one spool taking 13m of line, and an average usage of 1,5m per day.
Another time saver is less frequent refuelling, with both models sporting larger fuel tanks of 750ml.
The two-stroke engine with 2-MIX technology sets new standards. During scavenging a layer of air without any fuel is created between the burnt charge in the combustion chamber and the fresh charge in the crankcase. The exhaust is separated from the fresh fuel to minimize the scavenging losses, eliminating the components of the mix that pose a health and environmental hazard, and this also results in a fuel saving.
